Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation

About the Group

Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation/BMANTaR is a group of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Blue Mountains residents. The group supports the work of local Aboriginal Groups including BM Aboriginal Culture and Resource Centre, Gundungurra Tribal Council, Gunar Aboriginal Educational Consultative Group and Darug Tribal Corporation.

Purpose/Goals

Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation/BMANTaR meet to discuss and take action on a broad range of issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, locally and at a state and national level.

Activities

Issues include recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; supporting local schools to access Aboriginal art, culture and language programs and resources; challenging racism; supporting the annual Sharing the Journey Elders lunch and lobbying on issues raised by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Meetings

- How often: -Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation/BMANTaR meet from 1pm to 3pm on the 2nd Friday of each month from February to November.

- Where: - Emmanuel Church Hall, 13 Honour Avenue, Lawson.

- Who can attend: - The group is always open to new members and all BMCI members are invited to attend BMP4R/BMANTaR meetings or join our email list.
